John T. Riordan joined ICSC in 1982, serving as President and CEO from 1986 to 2001. During Riordan’s 21-year tenure at ICSC, membership quadrupled to nearly 40,000 in more than 70 countries. Riordan’s passion about education led him to being instrumental in the professionalization of ICSC’s educational programs and in 2004 ICSC recognized this feat by renaming its school for professional education the John T. Riordan School for Professional Development.
That same year, the ICSC Foundation created a scholarship bearing his name as well. Today, more than 86 scholarships have been awarded to industry professionals seeking to further their education and career development. As Candice Wilson, 2010 JTR Scholarship recipient, asserts, “I strongly believe that continuing education is essential to success in life and in my career. The John T. Riordan Scholarship has helped me to develop additional skills that will give me the opportunity to obtain an ICSC professional designation and greatly impact my future in real estate.”
The scholarship provides an all-expenses paid, including travel, course of study at one of the JTR Schools (Arizona for all North American residents). It also provides a travel grant to attend RECon in Las Vegas! Applications are now being accepted, but the deadline to submit all materials is October 26th.
