While our industry was dealt quite the blow during the economic recession, and we’re well on our way to recovery, albeit it a slow and cautious one, we never lost sight of what is truly important and what makes our shopping centers and our industry great –our communities. Throughout the hardships of the last few years, shopping centers, developers and management companies across the world have always made time to help those in need, whether it is filling food pantries, working in former conflict zones, rebuilding homes after disaster or raising funds for important causes.
Now, it’s time for these efforts to be recognized.
The ICSC Foundation awards shopping centers from around the globe for their charitable efforts with the Community Support Awards. These awards are given out regionally, in the United States, Canada, Middle East and North Africa, Europe and Latin America and are intended to honor shopping centers and companies for their philanthropic work.
Coming up is the deadline for the Canadian Community Support Awards on July 12, 2013. One winning shopping center will be recognized at the Canadian Convention and their partnering charity will receive a $5,000 USD contribution. Plus, the Canadian winner is entered to win the highest honor: the Albert Sussman International Community Support Award, which includes an additional $10,000 USD charitable grant.
With the Canadian deadline fast approaching, keep in mind the Middle East and North Africa awards, as well as the Asia Pacific Awards are open for submission until September 13, 2013. Don’t miss your chance!
