Congratulations to The Mall at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol, UK

foundationblogpicCongratulations to The Mall at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol, the 2014 ICSC Foundation European Community Support Award recipient. In July 2013 Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal launched the first fundraising public art trail featuring a licensed character with ‘Gromit Unleashed’. As the leading business partner, The Mall set out to help the charity beat its $1.6m fundraising target.  The walk consisted of 80 Gromit sculptures; each sponsored by local businesses, located around the Bristol area between July – September 2013.  In addition to the art trail The Mall added the only Gromit Unleased shop (selling charity merchandise), a free Wallace & Gromit exhibition (model making area, mini cinema, film sets & props from Aardman Animations) & operated The Mall’s train as the Gromit train for 10 weeks (ticket donations to the charity).  The Mall’s marketing team suggested that Nick Park (creator of Gromit) officially open the shop & exhibition, widely covered by the media.

The Mall brought in over $6million.  The funds raised by the Grand Appeal support the community by improving facilities at the Bristol Children’s Hospital in the children’s Cancer and Bone Marrow Unit, the children’s Cardiac Hybrid Theatre, the intensive care unit for babies, and state of the art equipment and facilities for the families of sick children.
